An active member of KYKL with weapon arrested by Manipur police

Imphal: Manipur Police arrested an active member of Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) from Imphal West district who was involved in extortion from common people.
Additionally, the police recovered a 9 mm pistol with a magazine along with 7 live rounds, a mobile phone and Rs 60,000 in cash which the police claimed was extortion money.
Meanwhile, a search operation was conducted by the security forces in the fringes and vulnerable areas of Imphal East, Imphal West, Churachandpur, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Kakching districts.
During the operations, two weapons (SLR-02) were recovered in Imphal-East district, three .303 rifles-03 and two explosives (locally made pipe bomb-02) were recovered in Kakching district.
Movement of 362 vehicles along NH-37 and 235 vehicles with essential items along NH-2 has been ensured. Strict security measures have been put in place at all sensitive locations and security convoys have been provided at sensitive locations to ensure free and safe movement of vehicles.
A total of 133 checkpoints/checkpoints were set up in various districts of Manipur, both hill and valley and the police detained 2047 persons for violations in different districts of the state.
