Imphal: In a significant operation, commandos of the Manipur police arrested an active freedom fighter of the liberation seeking Kangleipak Communist Party-Military Council (KCP-MC) in Bishnupur district.

Officials in Manipur reported the arrest and the recovery of a pistol and a mobile handset on Wednesday.

The operation was initiated based on intelligence suggesting that armed freedom fighters were extorting money from the general public, local businessmen, and government officials in the Ngangkhalawai area of Bishnupur district in Manipur.

Acting on this tip-off, police commandos in Bishnupur district of Manipur set up a strategic trap.

The operation, conducted around 5 pm on Tuesday (May 28), led to the successful apprehension of an active KCP-MC freedom fighter identified as Chingsubam Johnny Singh, also known as Chingkhei (38).
