
An active freedom fighter of KCP-MC arrested in Bishnupur district
Imphal: In a significant operation, commandos of the Manipur police arrested an active freedom fighter of the liberation seeking Kangleipak Communist Party-Military Council (KCP-MC) in Bishnupur district.
Officials in Manipur reported the arrest and the recovery of a pistol and a mobile handset on Wednesday.
The operation was initiated based on intelligence suggesting that armed freedom fighters were extorting money from the general public, local businessmen, and government officials in the Ngangkhalawai area of Bishnupur district in Manipur.
Acting on this tip-off, police commandos in Bishnupur district of Manipur set up a strategic trap.
The operation, conducted around 5 pm on Tuesday (May 28), led to the successful apprehension of an active KCP-MC freedom fighter identified as Chingsubam Johnny Singh, also known as Chingkhei (38).
Singh, a resident of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai in Imphal West district of Manipur, was arrested near a pond at Ngangkhalawai Mamang Leikai under the Moirang police station jurisdiction.
Manipur police confirmed that Singh and the seized items have been handed over to the Moirang police station for further legal proceedings.
The arrest marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to curb the activities of proscribed groups and ensure public safety in the region.
