Arunachal Pradesh: China criticized Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh on April 10, saying it violated Beijing’s territorial sovereignty.
Shah launched the ‘Vibrant Village Programme’ on April 10 from Kibithoo, a border village in Arunachal Pradesh.
“The visit violates China’s territorial sovereignty and is not conducive to the peace and tranquility of the border situation,” Reuters quoted Chinese spokesman Wang Wenbin as saying.
It is worth noting that China has recently changed the name of some places in Arunachal Pradesh in an attempt to stake its claim.
Later, India categorically rejected China’s claim saying that the state is an integral part of India and naming does not change this fact.
“We have seen such reports. This is not the first time that China has made such an attempt. We categorically reject it,” External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in New Delhi.
“Arunachal Pradesh is, has been, and will remain an integral and inalienable part of India,” he added.
Meanwhile, speaking exclusively to Media, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu termed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Kibithoo, the last Indian town bordering China, as a ‘historic’ moment.
The Union Home Minister arrived at Kibithoo village in Arunachal Pradesh to inaugurate the centrally sponsored ‘Vibrant Village Programme’.
Shah will also inaugurate nine micro-hydel projects and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) projects constructed under the “Golden Jubilee Border Illumination Program” at Kibithoo.
Apart from this, he will interact with the ITBP officials in the villages of Anjaw district.
