Shillong: Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah has said that Meghalaya is the “number one corrupt state” in the country.
Amit Shah made this statement while addressing a major BJP rally at Tura in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills district on Thursday.
Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah said, “We broke the alliance with the NPP in Meghalaya so that the BJP could contest all the seats.”
Shah appealed to the people of Meghalaya to vote for BJP candidates, promising to end corruption in the state.
“Make BJP a strong party in the state and we will end corruption,” Amit Shah appealed to the people of Meghalaya while addressing a BJP rally at Tura.
He added: “Due to mismanagement and corruption in 2022-23, the deficit was Rs 1849 crore. This is a huge amount for a small state like Meghalaya.
“According to an RBI report, Meghalaya is growing at the slowest rate in the country,” said Union Home Minister Shah.
Union Minister said that the Modi government has done unprecedented work for the welfare and development of tribals.
He added: “People of Meghalaya believe that only the BJP can eradicate corruption and develop the state.”
