Guwahati: Amid protests and floods in Assam, NFR canceled 10 more trains.
The North Eastern Frontier Railway (NFR) on Saturday canceled 10 more trains due to protests and closure in Bihar against the ‘Agnipath’ military recruitment scheme and floods in Assam.
Massive protests, including burning of train carriages in areas under East Central Railway, damaging railway property, Bihar Dam and floods in Assam’s Lumding and Rangiya divisions, in view of damage to railway tracks. Trains have been canceled. NFR chief public relations officer Sabyasachi D said diverted / rescheduled / short-term / short-lived.
The NFR had on Friday canceled 11 trains due to violent protests in Bihar and eight due to floods in Assam.
Trains Dibrugarh-Lalgarh Express, New Jalpaiguri Gowdi New Delhi Express, Jorhat Town Guwahati JanShatabdi Express, New Jalpaiguri Rajendra Nagar Capital Express, Katihar Samastipur, Katihar Bruni, Barauni Saharsha Passenger Trains, Passenger Rangia Rangapara, Rangiya The trains will run. Canceled Saturday, D said.
Rangapara-Rangiya passenger and Rangiya-Merkongsalik Express trains will be shortened at Udalguri on Saturday.
The Kamakhya-Rani Kamalapati (Bhopal) Express has been rescheduled to leave on Saturday at 18.00 hrs.
The NFR has also decided to run a special train between Dibrugarh and Lumding to facilitate the movement of stranded passengers. D added that the train will run at open hours and stop at all major stations.
