Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s dead have been appealed to not to attack with weapons and maintain peace so that peace can be restored in the hill state.
“I appeal to Meitei people who are armed not to attack anything and maintain peace and harmony so that we can return to normalcy in the state of Manipur,” Brain Singh said while talking to the media.
Talking about his interaction with his Mizoram counterpart CM Zoramthanga, Biren Singh said that the latter has extended full cooperation to normalize the situation in the state and provide assistance to all the Meiteis living in Mizoram amid the crisis.
Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga expressed his resolve to promote peaceful coexistence in Manipur amid ongoing violence in the region.
In a Twitter post on June 18, Chief Minister Zoramthanga shared details of his interaction with Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, including cooperation and measures to resolve the issue and ensure a harmonious environment.
During his telephone conversation, Chief Minister Biren Singh contacted Chief Minister Zoramthanga, sought help in dealing with the violence in Manipur and hoped for a peaceful solution.
Responding to the request, Chief Minister Zoramthanga assured his counterpart that the Mizoram government deeply regrets the ongoing violence and has already taken and implemented measures to defuse the situation.
Further, Chief Minister Zoramthanga expressed his support for the steps taken by the Government of Manipur and the Central Government in addressing the issue. He emphasized that the people of Mizoram stand in solidarity with the Meitei community and that both the government and NGOs have implemented measures to promote peace, security and stability.
