Amid clashes CM holds 1st cabinet meeting in Ukhrul, Kukis desist

Imphal: Chief Minister N Biren Singh and his cabinet ministers were accorded a warm welcome in Ukhrul, Manipur, as he convened an important cabinet meeting on October 18.
The meeting was held in the morning at the conference hall of the District Collector’s office, after which he attended a public function at the Money Secretariat Complex in Ukhrul.
During the visit, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of various projects.

A staggering Rs 64.38 crore worth of projects were handed over to the people of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, leading to significant investment in the development of the region.
Addressing a public event at the Finance Secretariat in Ukhrul, Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced that the government would prioritize the development of Ukhrul as a “summer city” and the land the city faces during its expansion.
The growing problems will be solved.
He also floated the idea of ​​building a new Ukhrul township near Sarakhong, urging the people of Ukhrul to consider this innovative solution.
Emphasizing the importance of the town in the region, Chief Minister N Biren Singh stressed that Ukhrul should be a key part of Manipur’s development programs under the Northeast Vision and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Bringing the critical issue of water scarcity to the fore, the Chief Minister immediately announced the sanction of Rs.5000. 6 crore for augmentation of water supply in Ukhrul Town. He promised to build a dam at Shiroi, costing Rs 500000000. 180-200 crores, to ensure uninterrupted water supply across Ukhrul.
Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh sought the cooperation of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to resolve any disputes hindering the construction of the dam.
True to its commitment to development, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said the government would fulfill all its promises and stressed that development should not be confused with political conflicts.
Regarding the restoration of mobile internet services, the Chief Minister advised citizens, especially students and youth, to be patient. He explained the importance of unity and people’s support to achieve peace and development.
Talking about the relationship between Tangkhuls and Meiteis, Chief Minister N Biren Singh highlighted the shift from the era of political division to the path of brotherhood. He further announced plans to set up Meitei and Tungkhul Heritage Museums in Hundung.
The Chief Minister assured the establishment of a nursing college in Ukhrul and expressed his intention to prioritize the establishment of a medical college in the district as per Prime Minister Modi’s vision of establishing medical colleges in every district.
He appreciated the efforts of CSO leaders and village heads in the anti-drug campaign, and stressed the need for Rs. Drug Rehabilitation Center under Social Welfare Department at a cost of Rs.5 crores.
The Chief Minister also approved the construction of a cold storage facility in the district.
The “Go to Hills” initiative, aimed at bridging the gap between the hills and the valley, was celebrated as a means of promoting unity and equitable development in the state.

Additionally, the state cabinet meeting approved the establishment of Tolloi police station and SDC office at Paoyi village.
Ram Muivah, MLA Ukhrul AC, expressed gratitude for various development projects and requested the revival of Shirui festival, for which Chief Minister N Biren Singh is the patron.
The day witnessed the distribution of appointment letters under the “Die in Harness” scheme for the office of the Autonomous District Council, benefiting 26 persons.
Several projects were inaugurated and foundation stones laid at the event, reinforcing the government’s commitment to the overall development of Ukhrul. These projects include the construction of a bailey bridge over the Challou river at Paoyi village, construction of a road from NH-202 to Halang village, and improvement of circular roads between villages.
Cabinet ministers, MLAs, CSOs, village heads and various organizations were present at the event.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh also laid the foundation stone of a heritage site at Hundung village, promising a bright future of unity, growth and development for the people of Ukhrul.
