Amid allegations of molestation Senior Pastor resigns
Kohima: Following allegations of molestation that have circulated on social media, a senior pastor of a Church in Chümoukedima has resigned. The board of ‘Father’s House Church’ which is located at 7th Mile, Chümoukedima requested his resignation amid ongoing scrutiny and concern from the community.
In an official letter to the senior pastor, the church board stated that all association with him in ministry and official capacities would cease immediately. The board emphasized that he was no longer authorized to use the church’s name outside its premises and called for him to resign from his position as senior minister and member of the church.
The letter further detailed the board’s communication with the Asia Harvest Alliance (AHA), stating, “We have informed them of your immoral activities and requested the AHA Council to take whatever action they deem necessary.” In the letter, the board expressed their willingness to assist the senior pastor in his rehabilitation, acknowledging that “the FHC board, along with the AHA Council, are ready to help you in whatever form necessary.”
It further stated: “We, the board, despite your actions, have forgiven you. However, we have to take these stern actions for your welfare and especially for the welfare of the church congregation.” It informed that the decision was reached after “prayer and thorough discussion” on September 19, concluding with a plea for divine mercy: “May the Lord show his mercy to you at this hour.”
There was significant backlash on social media since rumors of the pastor’s alleged misconduct surfaced online. An unverified statement attributed to the church claimed that “serious immoral acts” had been committed by the pastor, leading to demands for his resignation, which became official on September 22.
This statement acknowledged the pain caused to those impacted, emphasizing the church’s commitment to transparency, integrity, and accountability. It assured support for those affected by the pastor’s actions, stating, “We recognize the pain, disappointment, and confusion that this news may cause within our community.”
As of October 2 evening, reports indicated that the Church board met with the Social Welfare Department, although details from that meeting remain unclear. Additionally, official sources informed that no formal complaints have been filed against the pastor at this time. His current whereabouts are unknown.
