Agartala: The Tripura government has sent a proposal to set up eight more border haats (markets at the zero line of India-Bangladesh) in the state.
At present Tripura has two active border hotspots, one at Srinagar in Subroom in Southern District and one at Kamalasagar in Sepahijala District.
During the review meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Director of Industries and Commerce Department Vishwashree B shared this information.
In the review meeting, Director Vishwashree B said that there are total 8 land customs stations in the state including 1 integrated check post at Agartala.
“Srimantapur Land Customs Station has been upgraded to an Integrated Check Post (ICP). The state has border haats at Srinagar and Kamalasagar. Besides setting up border haats at Kamalpur in Dhalai district and Ragna in northern district. has been approved. While the government has sent a proposal to set up border hotspots at 8 more locations”, she said.
She further said that the government has decided to develop Kumarghat industrial area in Unakoti district as the hub of Agrabati sector.
Later, the Chief Minister said that the state has endless possibilities for industrial development. Therefore, the government has taken various measures for the development of the industry.
“The Department of Industries and Commerce needs to come up with new plans to attract more industrial entrepreneurs to invest in the state.
In the review session, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of making an industrial policy that would attract investors. The Chief Minister said that if a planned industrial policy is made, the industrial businessmen of the country and abroad will be encouraged. The Chief Minister said that in view of the upcoming North Eastern Global Investors Summit, potential areas of investment in the state should be highlighted in the road shows organized in various states.
In the meeting, Chief Secretary JK Sinha said that increasing investment in the industrial sector will accelerate the development of the state.
