Kohima: A forced change of guard was effected under the top leadership of GPRN/NSCN led by General (retd) MB Neokpao Konyak and N Kitovi Zhimomi. In a shocking turn of events, Ato Kilonser of GPRN/NSCN, N Kitovi Zhimomi was impeached on April 21.
In his place, Alezo Venuh was appointed as the new Ato Kilonser. Earlier he was playing the role of ‘collective leadership ambassador’.
There has been no official word from the Khehoyi-designated camp, but informed sources say the impeachment took effect during an emergency meeting of the National Tatar Hoho at the council headquarters.
Zhimomi was impeached on 4 grounds as described by the Tatar Hoho — alleged financial corruption, dictatorial functioning, incompetence and disinterest towards the GPRN/NSCN.
House held him responsible for the organization’s alleged weakness in financial stability and operating style, which took on the form of autonomy.
The copy of the charges, which went viral late on Sunday evening, added that he had a “volatile temper” with a lack of focus and disregard for “advice” from other members of the organization.
The charges were accompanied by a proclamation of impeachment, signed by the Speaker of the Tatar Hoho and the Chief Secretary of the GPRN/NSCN.
Referring to the Tatar Hoho resolution, it said that Ato Kilonser “deliberately” violated Article 18 GPRN/NSCN Constitution, Section A, Clause 8 and Section C, Clause 4 of the Party Discipline.
“Upholding and upholding the National Yehzabo (Constitution), the House impeached N. Kitovi Zhimomi by a show of hands and unanimously appointed Alezo Venuh as the General Secretary of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) and Ato Kilonser of the People’s Government. chosen as Republic of Nagaland.”
Venoh also holds the role of ‘Coordinator’ in the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPG), which was headed by Mukhasha Zimumi as Convener.
According to the sources, when the impeachment proceedings started on April 21, the proceedings were already underway. A section of Zhimomi’s loyalists are said to have moved to a safe place the night before. Zhimomi’s whereabouts remained unknown.
