Agartala: By Sunday illegal resdients asked to vacate forest land

Agartala: The North Tripura district administration has issued notices to illegal occupants of forest and patta land near Kanchanpur town along the Tripura-Mizoram border, asking them to vacate the land by April 23.

It is learned that District Magistrate Nagesh Kumar B met the family.
District Magistrate Nagesh Kumar B met the family on Wednesday along with SP Dr Kiran Kumar K and Sub Divisional Magistrate (Kanchanpur) Rahul Modi.

They claimed to be surrendered militants and accepted the government’s rehabilitation package.
However, they alleged that the government has failed to fulfill its promises of providing housing and livelihood options.

More than 3,500 people from 1,250 families had built thatched houses using bamboo thatch on both sides of the road.
Notably, the land was earlier allotted to the Chakma families under the Right to Forest Act and the Forest Department.

The Tripura government has taken responsibility for the 37,000 displaced Bruces from Mizoram based on the Quadrilateral Agreement.
The occupiers expressed their commitment to peaceful coexistence and to prevent future generations from engaging in rebellion or extortion.

The district administration has advised the families to submit their documents to substantiate their claims and vacate the land by the given deadline.
