Against power tariff hike, central students union held a mass protest

Guwahati: The Central Students’ Union of Kaliabor has taken to the streets in a formidable display of dissent against the power department, decrying a recent hike in power tariffs and the persistent issue of erratic power supply. The protest, which reached a crescendo with the burning of the effigy of the Power Minister, unfolded dramatically on National Highway 715 in Kuwaritol, Kaliabor.

Amidst a sea of placards bearing grievances and voices raised in unified protest, the demonstrators made their discontent palpable. Shouting slogans denouncing the power department, the protesters created an atmosphere charged with dissatisfaction and urgency.

The heart of the matter lies in the recent escalation of power tariffs, which has burdened residents and businesses alike. Coupled with this financial strain is the persistent issue of erratic power supply, exacerbating the daily challenges faced by the people of Kaliabor.

In a symbolic act of defiance, the effigy of the Power Minister was set ablaze, serving as a stark reminder of the frustration simmering within the community. The fervor of the protest reverberated through the streets, underlining the gravity of the situation.

The demonstrators have issued a stern warning, threatening to escalate their agitation if the power problems plaguing Kaliabor are not swiftly addressed. With determination etched on their faces, they vow to persist until tangible solutions are forthcoming.
