Against ‘narco-terrorism’ COCOMI declares worldwide chain protest

Manipur: The Coordination Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) on Friday announced a worldwide protest against “narco-terrorism” from 7 pm to 8 pm on Saturday.
Speaking to the media at the COCOMI office on Friday, convener Jitendra Nigombam said that the human chain protest would be launched under a theme against drug terrorism. He said that the committee has informed the people of Manipur and contacted them who are staying in foreign countries to protest.
Manipuris, who are living outside the state and in foreign countries, will join the protest at the scheduled time, i.e. from 7 pm to 8 pm.
Committee president Somorendro Th said the Manipur issue has been framed as a communal conflict between a majority and a minority community. He added that the protest has to be clarified and people have to be told that it is a pre-planned attack.
He said that the NRC should be implemented as soon as possible to protect the state from the influx of illegal immigrants.
Some suggested slogans are ‘No peace without repelling external aggression’, ‘Rooting drug terrorism for lasting peace’, ‘Our war is to defend ourselves’, ‘Our war is to defend our country’. Li Hai’, ‘Defense of motherland: We sacrifice,’ ‘We stand’, ‘No second golden triangle allowed in Manipur’.
