Imphal: Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Manipur unit president Manoharmayum Barish Sharma has urged the state police to take action against former Manipur Police Services (MPS) Thounaojam Brinda for defaming the Meitei community. File an FIR.
In a letter to the Superintendent of Police, Imphal West District, the BJP leader mentioned that an audio recording has surfaced on social media in which Thounaojam Brinda (retd. MPS) mentioned that the ongoing violence in Manipur. Ethnic clashes are being fueled by the Arambai Tenggol/Meiteis Leepun since May 3, 2023, and has allegedly burnt several Meitei houses in Churachandpur on the advice of the Chief Minister of Manipur.
The letter further stated, “It is to be noted that the accused has also threatened to attempt to take the undersigned’s life.
With such baseless allegations endangering the life and safety of the undersigned and his dependents is in danger and such allegation is likely to provoke the undersigned to be attacked by the Meiteis community.
On account of the baseless allegations of the accused and the Chief Minister of Manipur and the State Govt has caused irreparable loss and injury and if immediate action is not taken, false action will be taken against the undersigned.”
