Against denial of stay on Rahul conviction,NPCC hold silent protest
Kohima: After the Gujarat High Court refused to stay the sentence of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in his defamation case, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee staged a silent protest in front of the Congress Bhavan in Kohima on July 8 to show solidarity with him.
Senior leaders, leaders of frontal organizations, departments and cells, party workers and party supporters participated in the protest in support of Gandhi’s fearless and uncompromising fight, NPCC’s communication department said in a release.
It said not only the Congress party but the entire nation had condemned Rahul’s “wrongful conviction” and “incompetence” and vowed to stand by him.
The Pradesh Congress said that despite all odds, Gandhi has been steadfast in his relentless fight against abuse of power and fight for truth and raising the issues of the people of the country.
“His bold pursuit has forced Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP to resort to crooked measures that have resulted in his conviction and disqualification from Lok Sabha membership,” it alleged.
The NPCC added, “In the current situation, we stand together and reiterate that Mr. Rahul Gandhi is not alone and millions of Congressmen and crores of people, irrespective of their political affiliations, stand for the truth and We are with them in this fight for justice.”
