Manipur: At least nine BJP MLAs are up in arms against the current government led by N Biren Singh for handling the current crisis and law and order failure in Manipur.
The BJP MLA from Manipur presented a five-point memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday, for proper and reasonable deployment of CPMF (Central Paramilitary Forces) along with state police and others. Demand is included. Current unrest and violence in Manipur.
The memorandum also requested the Prime Minister that the demand for separate administration by any community should not be entertained at any cost and the integrity of the state should not be compromised.
Nine MLAs requested the appointment of the Prime Minister of India on 15 June and received an acknowledgment on the same day. But, as the Prime Minister leaves for an international tour on June 20, in the wider interest of Manipur, the delegation submitted the memorandum on Monday.
The delegation presenting the memorandum included Karam Shyam Singh-MLA Langthabal AC; Th Radheshyam Singh-MLA Heirok AC; Nishikant Singh Sapam- MLA Keishamthong AC; Kh Raghumani- MLA Uripok AC; P Brojen- MLA Wangjing Tentha AC; T Robindro- MLA Thanga AC; S Rajen-MLA Lamsang AC; S Kebi Devi- MLA Naoriya Pakhanglakpa; and Y Radheshyam- MLA Hiyanglam AC.
The memorandum also highlighted the complete breakdown of law and order in the state, loss of public confidence in the present state government and restoration of the rule of law to restore the confidence of the common people.
They also called for strict enforcement of Kuki SoO groups’ land laws, strict action to prevent infiltration and involvement of CDF (Chin Kuki Defense Force) in the current violence as there is a strong fear among the general public. He added that the issue could be seen as one of national security.
The MLAs also demanded a meeting of Kuki MLAs and Meetei/Meitei MLAs to find solutions to various issues facing the state. By discussing and exchanging ideas because they have not met due to the current situation.
Stating that despite several measures taken to curb the violence in the state of Manipur, the ongoing violence has resulted in the loss of more than 100 innocent lives and damage to valuable property, the memorandum to the Prime Minister on the issue. Urgent intervention has also been requested.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Manipur MLAs and ministers led by the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly met Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi on Monday and apprised him of the ground situation in the state.
A total of 23 legislators from BJP and NPP submitted some points to the Union Defense Minister to control the violence in the state of Manipur.
The lawmakers also demanded the Center to ensure a peaceful environment in the state by ending the ongoing violence and maintaining territorial integrity in the state at all costs.
He demanded strict action against rebel groups violating the state’s land laws.
Moreover, the legislators also called for the withdrawal of SoOs and their return to their designated camps.
Besides, he asked the Center to provide clarification on the allegations leveled by some militant groups in the state against some central BJP leaders for extending support during the 2017 elections.
The delegates included Minister Basant Kumar, Minister Govindas, Minister Sapam Ranjan, MLA Noorul Hassan, MLA L Rameshor, MLA K Robindro, MLA RK Imo, MLA Ashab Uddin, MLA Th Shyamkumar were included.
Later in the evening, the delegation met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
