
In crisis-hit Manipur, ban on internet services extended till Feb 26
Imphal: The All Naga Students Association Manipur (ANSAM) will stage a dharna at government offices in the hill districts on Tuesday and Wednesday against the extension of internet ban in the state.
In a press statement issued, ANSAM said it would launch a “dharna at government offices” in the hill districts of Manipur from October 24 to 25 ahead of protests demanding an immediate lifting of the internet shutdown in the state. will be initiated as a step.
The students demanded that internet connectivity be restored in peaceful areas of the state.
ANSAM also demanded to announce the results of the interview which was held in September 2021 for the appointment of 190 posts of Assistant Professors for government colleges in Manipur.
The student body further threatened to intensify its protest if its legitimate demands were not met by the state government.
ANSAM also appealed to its constituency units and subsidiaries to strictly implement the proposed agitation in their respective jurisdictions.
Meanwhile, the Naga Student Body also appealed to the government officials and general public to extend full cooperation and understanding during the agitation.
In a statement, ANSAM said it “acknowledged the government authorities’ efforts to condemn the protracted conflict and restore peace in Manipur state. Also, the Naga Students’ Union said it expects the government to It will address the long-standing grievances of the people.
The student organization said that it is angry with the ignorance and obstruction of the competent authority in depriving the rights of democratic citizens despite repeated requests to the central government and the state government.
According to ANSAM, the government has failed to honor the office ultimatum and assurance given by the Chief Minister of Manipur regarding complete ban on internet in the state and the assistant professors (on contract basis) in government colleges in Manipur.
