After women protesters block roads, fresh violence in Imphal

Imphal: Fresh violence was reported in Manipur’s Imphal on July 22 after hundreds of women protesters blocked roads and burnt tires in the Ghari area.
The situation turned tense around 9 am when women protesters came out in large numbers and blocked the roads on both sides, shouting slogans against the government.
Manipur Police, Army and Rapid Action Battalion had to rush in to bring the situation under control. According to reports, security personnel doused the fire and allegedly fired tear gas shells to disperse the protesters.
Apart from this, flag marches were conducted in many areas to control the protestors.
