After a major gun attack, Pharmacies in Imphal go on strike

Imphal: The strike launched by pharmacies on Wednesday (March 13) against the gun attacks by two motor-cyclists on a medical shop in Alugli, Imphal, Manipur, on Tuesday (March 12) night has left ordinary citizens, especially significant challenges faced by patients.
At around 6 pm on Tuesday (March 12), two unknown persons fired three shots at Mahalaxmi Pharmacy in Manipur’s Imphal city, though luckily, no casualties were reported.

Exploiting security lapses during the incident, the armed assailants swiftly fled the scene on a motorcycle, as captured by CCTV footage near the medical store.

In response to the attacks, drug control authorities shuttered all medical shops in the city centre on Wednesday (March 13), exacerbating difficulties for common citizens, particularly patients.

With no alternative, many patients were compelled to seek medications from the nearest hospitals, resulting in a hectic rush.

The majority of patients hurried to the medical outlets within the RIMS hospital complex in Imphal, Manipur to procure their medicines.

Although the motive behind the attacks is suspected to be monetary demands, the Manipur police have yet to identify any organization or individuals claiming responsibility.

Meanwhile, the police in Imphal city of Manipur confirmed registering a case in connection with the incident and is actively pursuing the attackers by analysing CCTV footage.
