Dibrugarh: The verdict in the sensational murder case of Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) doctor Sarita Toshniwal, which shook the nation in 2014, is likely to be pronounced on Friday.
The police had arrested two persons, a doctor and a ward boy, in connection with the murder on May 9, nine years ago.
Notably, the plot to kill Sarita was hatched by a doctor, identified as Deepamoni Saikia, a second-year student in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at AMCH a month ago. was a PG student and had taken the help of a ward boy, identified as Keru Mech. To implement the plan. Deepamoni and the deceased used to work together in the same department.
“Deepamoni and Saikia had a cordial relationship. But for the past few months they were not good. Deepamoni used to call Sarita Toshniwal on her mobile but she never answered. After being rejected by her, she took revenge. decided. He hatches a plan and enlists Kiru’s help. He manipulates Kiru by promising to make his job permanent. Even firing him if he refuses. also threatened,” the police said after arresting the accused.
“On May 8, Deepamoni was assigned night duty with Sarita, but she was absent due to illness. Sarita was alone on duty. A ward boy and a nurse were also on duty. Next morning (May 9), After the duty nurse leaves, Deepamoni and Kiru commit the crime.
Police said that Kiru tried to strangle Sarita in her sleep after which she started screaming loudly. Deepamoni then forcefully hangs her on the floor as she tries to break free.
Police added that the accused was not satisfied with killing her, so after committing the crime, he stripped the victim and molested her.
After nine years of the heart-rending incident, the accused are likely to be sentenced today.
