AC Tourist train Bharat Gaurav reaches Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC tourist train reached its first destination here on Thursday taking passengers on a specially designed “Northeast Discovery: Beyond Guwahati” tour.

The train started its journey from Delhi’s Safdarjung Railway Station on March 21, a statement issued by North East Frontier Railway said.
Lumding Divisional Railway Manager Prem Ranjan Kumar welcomed and interacted with the tourists at Guwahati Railway Station.

The release said that the tourists expressed satisfaction with their journey from Delhi to Guwahati.

They even danced with the Bihu troupe of artistes present to welcome them.
During their first stay here, tourists will visit the Kamakhya Temple followed by a sunset trip to the Umananda Temple and the Brahmaputra.

The train will depart on Friday for an overnight journey to reach Naharlagan railway station, 30 km away from its next destination in Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh, the next day.
Apart from Guwahati, the train will cover Sivsagar, Furkating and Kaziranga in Assam, Unakoti, Agartala and Udaipur in Tripura, Dimapur and Kohima in Nagaland and Shillong and Cherrapunji in Meghalaya during its 15-day tour.

Bharat Gaurav is the first such special tourist train for North Eastern states.
