New Delhi: A top woman leader of the banned CPI (Maoist) surrendered before the Telangana police on Saturday.

Female Maoist leader Aluri Usha Rani, Divisional Committee Member of North Sub-Zonal Bureau of Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee of CPI (Maoist), surrendered before DGP M Mahender Reddy.
Usha Rani aka Vijayakka aka Pochakka hails from Tenali in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh and was brought up in Gudivada of Krishna district. She surrendered on health grounds.

According to the police, she was involved in several violent incidents in both Telangana and Chhattisgarh.
she was involved in a total of 14 crimes during his underground life in both states.

These include five attacks on security forces, three exchanges of fire with the police, three blasts of buildings, one kidnapping and two attacks.
The DGP appealed to the Maoist cadres to join the national mainstream and participate in the development of the nation through constructive partnership and benefit from the recovery process of Telangana state, including immediate relief and other relief measures with adequate funds.

The DGP said that Usha Rani will be provided full rehabilitation by the state as per the policy. He also gave her Rs 50,000 in cash to cover her immediate expenses.
He told the police that the organization suffered a setback, militarily and organizationally, due to arrests, deaths and surrender of key and senior cadres.

In 1984, while pursuing her BSc from ANR Degree College, Gudivada, Usha Rani joined the RSU under the leadership of Kalleguri Prasad, a central organizer. He joined the CPI (ML) People’s War Group in 1991.

In 1998, her husband Mukka Venkateshwar Gupta alias Kiran, Nalgonda district secretary and South Telangana regional committee member, was killed in a shootout with the police.
