
A jawan of CRPF from Assam shoots himself, dies at Dantewada
Guwahati: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan from Assam died of alleged suicide in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district.
An Assam CRPF jawan shot himself dead with his service weapon.
The incident took place at the headquarters of CRPF’s 195th battalion in Barsoor area, 400 km from Raipur.
The deceased CRPF jawan from Assam has been identified as Gunin Das.
He shot himself with his service INSAS rifle in his barracks in the unit.
Hearing the sound of gunshots, his companions reached there and found him seriously injured.
He was taken to the unit hospital, from where he was shifted to Dantewada District Hospital.
He was later airlifted to Raipur and admitted to a private hospital where he died during treatment.
Das, who hails from Assam, joined duty on Saturday after returning from leave.
He was a native of Baksa district of Assam.
No suicide note was found at the scene and investigations are on to find out the exact reason that prompted him to take the extreme step.
