A freedom fighter of proscribed NLFT arrested by Tripura police

Agartala: In a major development, the Tripura police successfully arrested an associate of the banned outfit National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) late on Wednesday night.
Pabitra Jamatia, aged 38, a native of Killa area of ​​Gomati district, was arrested yesterday for his alleged involvement in arranging training for people from Tripura, Bangladesh, police sources said.
“The victims were assured that government assistance would be provided only if they surrendered to a militant base in Bangladesh for a short period. However, upon arrival, they were subjected to an extensive two-month training program. Forced to pass.
Eventually three of them managed to escape and returned to Tripura. As soon as the authorities were informed about the alarming situation, the security forces launched a comprehensive operation to arrest the accused involved.

After his arrest, Jamatia was produced in court today. Thereafter, he was remanded in judicial custody till October 23 for further investigation.
