A dazzling boaster story that plays aura to stars Dr. Bezbaruah 2

Dan Brown once said during a master class that it is very important for a writer to know the end of his story before he begins to write the rest of it. Once he knows the ending, he can juggle virtually every other aspect of the story and present it in different ways to ensure that the audience is hooked. This was something that crossed my mind more than once while watching Dr. Bezbaruah 2, a completely self-aware film that knows its limitations and doesn’t try to reach any heights. she does.On the contrary, it settles into a rhythm that it knows will capture the public’s attention and tries to tell a story that is predictable but full of crowd-pleasing moments and bird-brained moments. is full of but has interesting twists and turns. The film successfully capitalizes on the mass appeal and hero worship of one of its leading men. The result is a film that is entertaining, easy on the eyes, and breezes past leaving a good taste in the mouth.
Plot:-
Dr. Bezbaruah 2 begins with a series of unrelated events in the city of Guwahati. Shantanu (Siddharth Goswami) returns to India after spending years in London. Soon after his arrival, his past in the city comes back to haunt him in the form of Dr. Bezbaruah (Adil Hussain) who reminds him of some unfinished business. Dr. Bezbaruah himself is a popular surgeon and philanthropist who is about to embark on an international journey of some significance to the state and its people. A politician, a news outlet owner, and a random geek bad guy face challenges running their respective shady businesses and try to find ways to deal with their respective existential threats.
A charismatic but rebellious police officer, Mahadev Borbarua (Zubeen Garg) arrives in the city and is immediately confronted with criminal cases related to the illegal drug and arms trade that may involve powerful local businessmen and politicians. As the film progresses, each of these tracks connect to each other and eventually create a coherent and interesting story that explains the stakes of each character in the narrative and why they are a certain way.
Rajdweep’s skillful writing keeps the audience entertained and enthralled:-
The biggest strength of the film is its story, screenplay and pacing. Rajdweep, who is credited with the story, script and dialogues, knows how to make people sit in a poorly ventilated makeshift theater setup for over 2 hours. I recently saw her Birikhor Birina at a show in Ganeshguri and was invested from start to finish. He successfully brings the same sensibility and ability to capture the attention of the audience to the screenplay of Dr. Bezbaruah 2 and captivate the audience. He deliberately keeps the pace of the film so fast that it’s hard to notice the flaws at first glance. It’s only when you step back after watching that you notice the film’s many glaring flaws. Its story unfolds in multiple tracks and the screenplay alternates between these tracks adding to the plot.I also have to admit that he has a great sense of storytelling and the multiple tracks never become confusing. I never complained though the movie thoroughly entertained me and I got what I expected. My only gripe with the writing is that the dialogues could have been better. While the dialogue here would work well for a mobile theater play, in a cinematic presentation, it should be of a higher order.
Unnecessary songs, forced dramatic and romantic parts:-
Numerous songs were a headache and there was nothing in Zabeen’s music that would make me want to revisit the songs. While the picturization was beautiful, the songs only served as a break on an otherwise smooth-flowing narrative. Sometimes at critical junctures that frustrated me. The family and romantic bits in the film felt forced and felt like they were playing off of another narrative even though they were used to put in a decent twist right after the interval and for the main character to move forward are used.
Zubeen Garg and Adil Hussain could have been given a little more dramatic entry:-
The introduction of Dr. Bezbaruah, Shantanu, and DSP Mahadev is bland to say the least. I would have liked a more theatrical and massive entry for at least Zabeen Garg and Adil Hussain. However, this drawback is quickly negated as the story kicks into top gear and moves forward without giving anyone a chance to look back and criticize what was initially missing. The three main villains are generic and tick every box they’re supposed to, but they serve their own purposes and aren’t unsatisfying in their portrayal of characters.
Zubeen Garg is entertaining, inspiring and charming:-
Zubeen Garg once again plays himself and this time he is a cop of sorts. He does everything Zubeen is known for including his trademark goofy antiques. What is undeniable is that whenever he appears on screen, the atmosphere is lit up. Rajdweep gives him some of the best dialogues the film has and Zubeen is bound to deliver them with his familiar charm and charisma. The truth is. You either like Zabeen or you don’t.Whatever he does, he does it for those who love him and this film is no different. It is futile to judge his history by the lens of acting or performance. I liked him here a bit more than his previous release this year, Raj Neeti: – Part 1 .
Siddharth Goswami is underwhelming as the protagonist: –
The same cannot be said about Siddharth Goswami who is almost the lead actor in the film. He himself has a longer and more important role than the titular character and is hardly able to cope with this long question. He makes exactly the same expression. He is unable to make us feel his character at critical junctures. Even when he is in dire situations, his demeanor does not change and he delivers his dialogues in the most relaxed manner. All these factors combine to influence his subject. For a role of this nature, he should have been very dramatic in some sequences and should have been able to create a strong connection with the audience through his character.
Adil Hussain and the supporting cast have little chance to do anything substantial:-
Adil Hussain is one of my favorite actors of this generation. Unfortunately, she was given nothing to showcase her acting prowess. Despite the weak material he has in hand, he excels. He breathes life into certain conversations simply by bringing his brilliance and range of acting to support the writing. Kingkini Goswami is insignificant to the plot and the film.I was expecting her character to gain importance as the story progressed but it never happened. She was only there to justify three songs and add some glamor to a screenplay that would otherwise be devoid of women. The great and venerable Nipon Goswami proves once again why he is so revered in a cameo and practically ignores many other worthy performances.
“Guwahati” is a character: –
Dr. Bezbaruah 2 weaves the lifestyle of “Guwahati” into its narrative and while its characters may be comical, the unmistakable presence of places we all frequent makes it a watch to watch. We all want to connect. The film’s final reveal is too over the top to understand and works to its detriment. Its twists and turns don’t necessarily land. The antagonists are half-baked and never pose a real threat to the protagonist. Some tragic moments that should have been heart-wrenching are rushed and leave little impact. It also tries its best to connect with the original cult classic but fails satisfactorily.
Last words:-
Having said all that, where Doctor Bezbaruah 2 succeeds is in entertaining and enthralling the audience during its runtime. It gives us the most fun and escapism and is so enjoyable that during its runtime, I forgot or overlooked many of its flaws and its over-the-top characters and I was engrossed in the glory of the provocative narrative. This aspect of the film made it special for me. If a movie can entertain me so much that I don’t see many of its problems while watching it, then it has served its purpose. For all this and more, Doctor Bezbaruah 2 is a movie you can watch at least once.
