A criminal Re-arrested after 10 years

Guwahati: A criminal who escaped from Lucknow police custody in Uttar Pradesh 10 years ago has been re-arrested from Assam.

The fugitive had disguised himself as an English subject tutor and a grocery shop owner during his 10-year stay in Assam.

The accused was living in Diphu in Assam’s Kabri Anglang district.

The police tracked him down, arrested him and took him back to Lucknow on Thursday.
A cash reward of Rs 5,000 was initially announced on the convict’s head in 2014, which increased to Rs 1 lakh by the time he was recaptured in Assam.
Lucknow Police confirmed that the culprit, who has been re-arrested from Assam, has been identified as 40-year-old Dinesh Tiwari.

Tiwari escaped from Lucknow police custody on 6 October 2012.

Since then he managed to avoid re-arrest and stay off their radar.

Tiwari was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the abduction and murder of a Lucknow University postgraduate student.
