7 years imprisonment to Rape accused awarded by POCSO court

Guwahati: In a landmark judgement, a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) court in Assam has sentenced a man to seven years in prison for raping a three-year-old child.
According to information, the accused has been identified as Rafiq Ali. This incident is from 2022 which took place in Fatasil Ambari area of ​​Guwahati.
Apart from imprisonment, Rafiq Ali has also been fined 9 thousand rupees. The court further directed that if the accused fails to pay the amount, he will be sentenced to another three months imprisonment.
On the other hand, the court also directed the District Legal Services Authorities to compensate the victim with an amount of Rs 1 lakh.
