Unakoti: Clashes between students of two colleges in Tripura turned violent as a dispute erupted over arrangements for the screening of the film “The Kerala Story” at Fatikroy Ambedkar College in Unakoti district. As a result of this brawl, 5 students were injured, while 10 people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to sources, the trouble started when a group of students of Ramakrishna Mahavidyalaya approached the principal of Fatikroy Ambedkar College and requested an alternative venue to screen the film.
However, due to the absence of the principal, the students resorted to giving their deputation to another professor. This led to a heated argument between the students of the two colleges, which escalated into a violent scuffle on the college premises. During the clash, the principal’s office was also ransacked.
The college authorities immediately informed the local Fatikroy police station about the situation. Recognizing the gravity of the violence, additional police forces, including the Tripura State Rifles, were deployed from several police stations to restore order. Unfortunately, five students were injured during the clash.
“Police managed to bring the situation under control and subsequently arrested 10 students from Ramakrishna Mahavidyalaya, Kailashahar for further investigation.
The incident has created a tense atmosphere not only in the college campus but in the entire surrounding area,” said a source familiar with the matter.
