4 active freedom fighters of UNLF (P), Prepak held by Joint Forces
Imphal: Security forces have arrested four active members of the proscribed outfits UNLF (P) and PREPAK from Imphal West in two separate incidents, according to police.
Police officials reported that Asem Nabachandra Meitei, 41, from MI Road in Imphal West, was arrested on Sunday. The freedom fighter of UNLF (P) was allegedly involved in extortion cases in the state. A .32 pistol, a magazine, and nine live rounds of ammunition were recovered from his possession.
In another operation, four active members of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), also involved in extortion activities, were apprehended from Thangal Bazar in Imphal West on Friday.
The arrested freedom fighters were identified as Konthoujam Kumar Singh (46), Ankur Mahawar (40), and Naveen Mahawar (48). During the search, the police recovered Rs 1,90,000 in cash and three mobile phones from the arrested individuals.
