Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on April 21 welcomed all the surrendered freedom-fighters’ willingness to join the mainstream of society and assured them of a secure livelihood.

It is noteworthy that the largest number of fighters presented their weapons and ammunition at the homecoming ceremony after the formation of their second term government on April 21.
He also said that the formation of the BJP government has brought a lot of change in terms of development and economy in the state.

“Northeastern states are no longer behind compared to other states of mainland India. Singh added that this kind of change helps instill confidence in the governance of the current government by many banned freedom-fighters.
Explaining about the welfare scheme for the surrendered freedom-fighters, he said, “Apart from the rehabilitation benefits provided to the surrendered cadres, the recently launched ‘One Family One Pension’ scheme of the state government will provide them Preference will be given. This will make it easier for them to earn their livelihood and educate their children.

He also said that development can be brought only when there is peace and stability in the society and the cooperation of the people of the state in promoting peace, many development works have been done in the last six years.
He appealed that “people should avoid blockades and blockades for any issue but focus on solving the problem through dialogue and dialogue.”

The Chief Minister of Manipur further appreciated the Police Department, Intelligence Bureau, Special Investigation Branch, Army and other paramilitary forces for their efforts in mainstreaming the freedom-fighters of various underground organizations.
Cabinet ministers, MPs, MLAs, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, senior civil and police officers of the state government, senior officers of Assam Rifles, CRPF and BSF also participated in the homecoming ceremony.
Under the Union Home Ministry’s Revised Scheme for Surrender and Rehabilitation of Militants in North-Eastern States, 2018, rehabilitation benefits to surrendered freedom-fighters include a one-time financial sum of Rs.4 lakh to each surrendered freedom-fighter. Grant, which is to be kept in a bank account in their name as a fixed deposit for a period of three years. Apart from this a monthly stipend of Rs.6000 per person and perks for surrenderers. He will stay in the rehabilitation camp for three years.
