3-point charter raises by WMC, Mizoram CM not to inturde in state

Manipur: The World Meetei Council (WMC) on May 23 criticized the Manipur state government for failing to resolve the ongoing conflict between the Meetei and Chin-Kuki people in Manipur.
At a press meet held in Guwahati, the council raised a three-point charter of demands in which they criticized Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga for his statements about the ‘Zo’ ethnic community.
“The Chief Minister of Mizoram should not interfere in the internal affairs of Manipur,” the release mentioned.

The release added that the Government of India should consider a three-point agenda to resolve the conflict between the Meetei and migrant Chin-Kuki people.
Firstly Meetei needs constitutional protection as given in ST provision. Secondly implementation of NRC in Manipur as soon as possible and lastly to protect the local people from atrocities committed by immigrants in Manipur.
Additionally, the Council also condemned the destruction of ancient temples in Mete, the demand by 10 Kuki MLAs for a separate administration and the cancellation of the SOO by the Government of India with migrant Kuki militants.
“Political parties should stop politicizing the current conflict in Manipur. Request media houses not to portray the victims as criminals,” the release added.
Earlier, the state committee of the Hmar Students Association, Manipur, condemned a news report carried by several media outlets which claimed that three temples had been vandalized in the ongoing tension between the two communities. .
In a press statement, the students’ wing clarified to the general public that the data provided by VHP leader Milind Parande said that 3 (three) big temples were destroyed in Tipaimukh Media, Bay There are base and false allegations.
“Tipaimukh is the name of a village, the name of an assembly constituency in Manipur and the old name of a sub-division of Pherzawl district. Tipaimukh sub-division has about 25 villages whose inhabitants are all tribal and 100 percent of Christian faith.
There is not a single (big or small) temple in the entire Tipaimukh Sub-division (now Prabung Sub-division). We also wish to clarify that there is only one Hindu temple (Shree Radha Krishna Temple) in the entire town of Churachandpur which is still standing safe and sound,” the release said.
