3-day Capital bandh call ‘illegal’ Arunachal govt spokesperson said

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh government spokesperson Bamang Felix on Sunday said that the three-day capital bandh called by a few organizations is not a democratic movement but unconstitutional and illegal and will be dealt with according to law.

Addressing mediapersons at the state secretariat here, Felix said that ever since the paper leak scandal came to light, the state government has been active in reforming the entire examination system of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). Several steps have been taken.
He said that it has also acted on almost all the 13-point charter of demands of the Pan-Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) scheduled on February 18 and the written minutes of the meeting are before the public domain.

He said that if there was any delay, it was because the state government was dependent on some autonomous agencies or the process was ongoing.
Unfortunately, some sections of the society have not appreciated the efforts made by the government and have called for a bandh in 11 to 12 districts from May 10.”

He also said that the bandh callers are trying to discuss the issue on social media by wrongly associating the name of the late Gyamar Padang with the bandh call, which will hurt his spirit and a His character as a peace-loving person will be discredited. Further, the state government will no longer tolerate such undemocratic activity and will be dealt with according to law.
He added that with the untimely demise of whistle-blower Padang, Chief Minister Pema Khandu has informed the former’s family about the respect he and his work have.
Felix, who is also the interior minister, appealed to the public to be patient and wait for the verdict as such announcements are made on August 15.

Responding to a photo on social media of Khandu meeting former APPSC chairman Nipo Nabam, Felix claimed that it was fake and that the chief minister failed to meet any former APPSC chairman. Neither met the member nor spoke to any government spokesperson about him.
Instead, he appealed not to circulate false information that would mislead the public.

Felix appealed to the aspirants to focus on studies as the commission will conduct all pending examinations after the formation, which is necessary as the unemployment rate in the state is on the rise. Also, the delay in conducting the examinations will affect the age relaxation of three years.
Claiming that the CBI is conducting its own investigation, he said the investigating agency has its own rules and regulations that prohibit it from sharing confidential information with anyone, even the government.

Earlier, a group of people had announced a three-day bandh in 11 to 12 districts to protest against the APPSC paper leak case.
