GUWAHATI: At least 3 civilians were killed in an alleged firing by suspected fighters in Tinsukia near the Assam-Arunachal border on Monday.
The incident took place at Ledo between Pheenbhiru and Ringraan Than near Jagun on the Assam-Arunachal border.
The suspected militants carried out the attack after a shootout with the Assam Police in which a fighter of the banned outfit, identified as Uday Asom, was killed in an encounter on February 8, sources said.
It is also suspected that the three victims were killed because they were informers of the security forces.
Moreover, the cause of the fire has not yet been revealed by the Assam Police.
More details are awaited.
