Imphal: A 22-year-old man was arrested in Manipur for making derogatory remarks on Facebook against Chief Minister N Biren Singh and the BJP, police said on Tuesday.
He said that Laishram Malemnganba was arrested on Monday from his house in Waiton in Imphal East district based on a complaint by BJYM state president Manoharmayum Barish Sharma.
Sharma alleged that the comment cast the BJP in a false light as being “Hindu-centric”, and it hurt BJP workers.
The BJYM leader claimed, “Being a Hindu, this comment deeply hurt my religious sentiments.
The police registered a case against the accused under various sections of the IPC, including 295A (willful and malicious acts, intended to hurt the religious sentiments of any section by insulting its religion or religious beliefs).
