20th Inauguration of Mizoram Police Sports Meet
Aizawl: 20th Inauguration of Mizoram Police Sports Meet begins on Monday.
The five-day event was inaugurated by Chief Minister Zoramthanga in a function held at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium here.
Mizoram Police Sports and Cultural Control Board (MPS&CCB) is organizing a sports meet with the theme “Unity through Sports”.
Inaugurating the meeting, Zormathanga said that the state police has contributed a lot by providing good players and coaches from state level to national level in various sports fields.
He said that sports have been given ‘industry status’ for the promotion of sports in the state, and sports have become a lucrative career choice for many sports talents.
The Chief Minister said that talent, strong determination and perseverance are required to become a successful sportsperson.
Mizoram DGP Devesh Chandra Srivastava said that despite the 24*7 busy duty schedule and acute shortage of manpower, the players, coaches and officials of the state police continued to show their talent and brilliance in various fields at the state and national level. are
He highlighted the recent achievements of sports officials in various sports events.
The Mizoram Police Anthem – “Kaan Ram Tan” was also beautifully rendered by the Central YMA Choir.
The various districts or battalions or units are grouped into 11 participating troops based on their geographical location.
These 11 teams will compete in 19 different sports disciplines or events.
The first Mizoram Police Sports Meet was held in 1987.
1st Bn. MAP Contingent has won the ‘Overall Champions Trophy’ on 9 occasions.
The sports meet will close on October 21 at the same venue, which will be attended by Home Minister Lalchamliana.
