Manipur: Rongmi Naga Baptist NGO is celebrating 37 years of service

Imphal: North East Sustainable Development Initiative – Rongmi Naga Baptist Association (NesDi-RNBA), one of Manipur’s oldest NGOs, on Wednesday organized ‘Celebrating the Past for a Brighter Future’ in Imphal. Celebrate 37 years of service under the theme.

The event was attended by Minister of Education, Law and Legislative Affairs. Basanta Kumar Singh, Taminglong legislator Janghamlong Panmi, and Manipur Rural State Livelihood Mission State Mission Director Bandana Devi and others.

The event also marked the launch of the Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission in Tamanglong, Chorachandpur, Sinapati and Imphal East districts respectively.

With the support of Veddis Foundation, NesDi-RNBA will be the implementing agency for the Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission.

Over the years, the organization has worked for relief, community development, capacity building, land rights, natural resource management or nature-based solutions in more than 350 villages in 16 districts of Manipur, Assam and Nagaland.

NesDi-RNBA has been fulfilling the lives of tribals, especially vulnerable tribal groups, poor and other marginalized people for almost four decades. The organization has impacted over 6 lakh people with over 1.5 lakh direct beneficiaries.

Formerly known as the Development and Relief Department, since 2021 the organization has gained autonomy from Rongmi Baptist Council of Churches, Imphal. The non-profit organization is now known as North East Sustainable Development Initiative-Rongmi Naga Baptist Association (NesDi-RNBA).

Dimgong Rongmei, Executive Director of NesDi-RNBA said, “It is with great pride that we are celebrating our 37th year of existence with the theme of ‘Celebrating the Past for a Brilliant Future’. We are delighted that such Dignitaries including beneficiaries are here to share the journey with us. We want to learn from our past – both mistakes and successes – and move towards a glorious, successful future where we are the most marginalized and oppressed people of Manipur. can imagine progress with.”

Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission State Mission Director, N. Bandanadevi is looking forward to meaningful collaboration with the World Bank in the districts of Tamenglong, Chorachandpur, Senapati and Imphal East for the next three years with possible further collaboration.
