A massive protest demonstration rocked Bongaigaon,as thousands gathered to renew their long-standing demand for a separate Kamatapur state and Scheduled Tribe (ST) status for the Koch-Rajbongshi community.

The protest, organized under the joint banner of AKRASU (All Koch Rajbongshi Studentsโ€™ Union), KLO (Kamtapur Liberation Organisation), All Assam Koch Rajbongshi Sanmilani, and over twenty other socio-cultural organizations, witnessed participation from across Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar.

Chanting slogans and carrying placards, the demonstrators called for the governmentโ€™s immediate intervention to fulfil the decades-old aspirations of the Koch-Rajbongshi people.

Addressing the massive gathering, leaders of the participating organizations warned the state government against continued inaction and vowed to intensify their agitation if their demands were not addressed soon.

They asserted that both statehood and ST recognition are crucial for preserving the identity, culture, and rights of the Koch-Rajbongshi community.
