A massive torch rally swept through Moran, situated between Dibrugarh and Charaideo districts, as members of the Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad, Assam (TAYPA) and its supporters reignited their long-standing demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status and autonomous governance.

The rally, organised by the Central Committee of TAYPA in collaboration with the Tai Ahom Mahila Parishad and local residents, commenced from Ushapur Playground, winding through the townโ€™s key routes before culminating at the same venue.

Resonating with fiery chants such as โ€œJaagega Ahom, Jaagega Hiโ€ (Ahom Will Rise, It Surely Will), โ€œNo ST, No Restโ€, โ€œNo ST, No Voteโ€, โ€œWe May Die but We Will Secure Tribal Statusโ€, and โ€œDown with BJPโ€, the protestors made their sentiments clear, amplifying the call for recognition and justice for the Tai Ahom community.

The programme was spearheaded by the TAYPA faction of the Diganta Tamuli group, with prominent leaders including Green Bargohain, Ranjan Boruah, Abhijit Bargohain, Nipam Dihingia, and Rekha Gogoi leading the demonstration.
