The rural road connecting Kokrajhar and Dhubri through Bhotgaon Kashipara Bazar has turned into a virtual pond, making daily commuting a nightmare for local residents, students and vehicles alike.
Located just three kilometers from Kokrajhar townโthe headquarters of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR)โthis busy stretch has been rendered nearly unusable with just a single spell of rain.
The deteriorating condition has not only disrupted transportation but has also caused immense hardship to the people of Bhotgaon and surrounding areas.
In response, the All Bodo Minority Students’ Union (ABMSU) staged a protest on Friday, demanding immediate repair and restoration of the road to ensure safe and smooth travel. Protesters voiced frustration over the administration’s negligence and called for swift action.
ABMSU General Secretary Jaidul Islam issued a stern warning, stating that if the road is not repaired and made motorable within the next week, Arup Kumar Deyโthe elected representative of the Fakiragram constituency and Executive Member of the BTC would be barred from entering the area.
The protest reflects growing public anger and calls for urgent government intervention to address the long-standing infrastructure issue.
