On Sunday, August 24 evening, the All Assam Nath Yogi Studentsโ Union (AANYSU) staged a vehement protest against Madaniโs comments. Demonstrators set fire to an effigy of the Jamiat president, marking their outrage and rejection of his demand.
Addressing the media during the protest, AANYSU president Arvinda Nath said that such remarks were unacceptable to the indigenous communities of Assam.
โAssam is not a ground for external political interference. We, the indigenous people of Assam, will never accept statements that undermine our democratic choices and leadership. Our land, rights, and identity must be protected,โ Nath asserted.
The incident has further fueled tensions, with indigenous groups rallying behind the call to safeguard Assamโs political and cultural sovereignty from what they perceive as unwarranted external influence.
