𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶 𝗠𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗮, 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗽𝘂𝗿, 𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗨𝗖𝗟 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗻𝗲-𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱.

Thokchom Sujata, Convenor of Imagi Meira, said the report is “completely one-sided, baseless, and unacceptable,” arguing that its contents could escalate tensions rather than foster peace and reconciliation in the conflict-affected areas.

“The members of Imagi Meira thoroughly examined each page of the report and found that almost all chapters portray the conflict as affecting only one ethnic group,” Sujata said. “Such a narrative is misleading and can further divide communities.”

Condemning PUCL for what they called a “flawed and partial account,” the women’s group decided to burn the report as a symbolic protest. They also urged the concerned authorities to take prompt action to ensure such publications do not exacerbate communal tensions in Manipur.

The protest reflects growing discontent among local organisations over external assessments of the state’s complex social and ethnic conflicts, emphasising the need for balanced and inclusive approaches in conflict reporting.
