Protests erupted today at the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border near the Shantipur Gate following the alleged shooting and killing of an Assamese man named Shankar Pegu in Roing, Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh.

As a mark of protest, agitators staged a road blockade at the Assam-Arunachal boundary, bringing movement between Roing and Shantipur to a standstill since early morning.

The protest was led by several organizations including the All Tai Ahom Studentsโ€™ Union (TMPK) and various local groups from Shantipur and Sadiya, along with support from several Arunachal-based organizations.

The demonstrators are demanding justice for the victim and a thorough investigation into the incident. Tensions remain high in the region, and authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
