Residents of Kathalmuri village in Bajali district, Assam staged a protest on Friday, September 12 voicing anger over the incomplete road project that has left the residents struggling for years. Chanting slogans such as โRanjeet Kumar Dass Go Backโ and โMukut Kalita Uselessโ, villagers accused leaders of neglect and mismanagement.
The agitation was sparked by allegations of irregularities in the road construction project. Despite a foundation plaque being laid more than two years ago, the construction work remains unfinished, leaving the stretch in a deplorable state.
As a result, nearly 50 families of the village have been facing severe hardship due to the lack of a proper road. Locals expressed particular resentment towards Mukut Kalita, a native youth of Kathalmuri and the current BJP Secretary of Bajali district, holding him accountable for the failure to complete the project.
Frustrated by continued inaction, villagers took to the streets, staging a massive protest demanding urgent intervention of the government and completion of the road.
