The protest, led by Sribhumi District BJP, included a blockade of the National Highway near New Karimganj Railway Station, drawing significant public and police attention.
Among the key leaders present were Minister Krishnendu Paul, former Rajya Sabha MP Mission Ranjan Das, and former district BJP president Subrata Bhattacharya, along with several party supporters. The protestors raised slogans condemning the act and demanding a high-level probe into the matter.
Speaking to the media, Minister Krishnendu Paul made a bold allegation, stating that the incident may have links to elements in Kashmir, and called for a thorough investigation to uncover the forces behind the attack on the Chief Ministerโs security convoy.
Strongly criticizing the Congress party, Paul said, “The Congress party will never return to power in Assam โ not in 2026, not ever again. Their growing frustration is making them act irrationally.”
He also condemned the Golaghat incident and suggested that the opposition is resorting to disruptive tactics in the absence of public support.
The protest concluded peacefully but not without sparking a fresh wave of political blame game, with the BJP doubling down on its allegations and the Congress yet to issue a formal response.
