Security forces found 2 hideouts recovered a cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives in operations carried out in Manipurโ€™s hill districts over the past 24 hours.

A Manipur Police morning bulletin issued on Monday stated that security forces recovered a large quantity of military equipment from Molnomโ€“Molnoi village and adjoining areas under Tengnoupal police station in Tengnoupal district.

The seized items included one AK rifle, one pistol, two improvised mortars, one single-barrel rifle, two live improvised mortar bombs, ten rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, and fourteen IEDs along withย IED wire bundles, all of which were safely disposed of at the spot.

During the second phase of the operation, conducted in the general areas of Lenglong and Taikhang under Nungba police station in Noney district, security forces recovered one 7.62 mm AK-47 rifle with a magazine, one US Carbine M2 with a magazine, one .22 pistol with a magazine, one DJI drone, four 8 mm blank rounds, seventeen 5.56 mm rounds, thirty-nine 7.62 mm AK-47 rounds, eight 9 mm carbine ball rounds, nine 7.62 mm SLR ball rounds, seven 12-bore cartridges, two Baofeng radio sets, and cortex wire.

Police reports added that in the final phase of the operation, approximately 27 acres ofย illegal poppy plantationsย spread across the Awlmun, Songlung, and Lhangjol areas under Kangchup police station in Kangpokpi district were destroyed.

Five huts found at the plantation sites, along with three sacks of salt and five fertilizer bags, were also destroyed. A Kenbo two-wheeler bike was recovered during the poppy destruction drive.
