
Central security forces and civil police arrested a Freedom Fighter of the Peopleโs Liberation Army (PLA) and discovered a cache of firearms and explosives in Manipurโs Imphal West district.
Officials on Wednesday reported that the arrest and seizures were conducted in two operations at different locations on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip from multiple sources, the joint forces raided an insurgentย hideoutย and arrested an active PLA cadre, Meisnam Korouhanba Luwang, also known as Korou (45).
He was apprehended at his hideout at Keishamthong Top Leirak under Imphal Police Station, Imphal West district. A mobile phone was seized from him.
The police further reported that, based on his on-the-spot interrogation, the joint team carried out the second phase of the operation, leading to the recovery of several items from Lambal Awang Leikai under Lamsang Police Station, Imphal West district.
These included one locally made single-barrel gun, one 9 mm pistol, six pistols each with a magazine, 64 ammunition rounds of different calibers, three SLR blank cartridges, one No. 36 HE grenade, one detonator, three tube launching devices, 10 arming rings, one magazine, four iron plates, two camouflage helmets, three BP vests, and one ammunition container box.
The police reported that the arrestee and the recovered items were later deposited at the concerned police stations for further action.
