Manipur police have arrested three active cadres of the Kangleipak Communist Party โ Apunba (KCP-A) in connection with a grenade attack at the residence of a state government official in Imphal West.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening at the home of Puyam Rajendro, 50, Executive Engineer of the Rural Engineering Department, in Chajing Mamang Leikai under the Singjamei police station. The blast, caused by the grenade allegedly lobbed by insurgents, did not result in any injuries.
Following a detailed investigation, police apprehended Laishram Bulu Singh (39) of Chana Mayai Leikai, Lamlai; Puyamacha David (22) of Lalambung Takhellambam Leikai; and Ningthoujam Chalamba Singh (29) of Khurai Kongpal Sajor Leikai from different locations in Imphal West and East districts between February 8 and 9.
During searches, authorities recovered a Maruti Gypsy vehicle (RC MN01AK 3615), a .45 pistol with magazine and 17 rounds, three mobile phones, a wallet containing Rs. 220 and an Aadhaar card, along with other incriminating items.
The police have registered a case and are continuing investigations into the attack, which comes amid heightened security concerns in the state.
