The coordinating forces detected and neutralised the improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in an area along Tamil Mandir Road leading to the Indo-Myanmar border Friendship Gate.

In an operation, a bomb detection and disposal squad of the Assam Rifles neutralisedย  bombs discovered along the Indo-Myanmar borderย in the Manipur sector ahead of the Republic Day 2026 celebrations.

Officials stated on Sunday that the potentially dangerous devices were first spotted on Saturday around 3:45 PM by a joint team comprisingย Assam Rifles, Manipur police, and Border Security Forces.

The coordinating forces detected and neutralised the improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in an area along Tamil Mandir Road leading to the Indo-Myanmar border Friendship Gate.

Troops discovered an unusual underground structure, and a subsequent search revealed three IEDs concealed inside a specially built bunker.

A bomb disposal team was deployed, confirmed the devices were live, and safely neutralised them, ensuring the area was fully secured. The police have registered a case in this regard.
